Weekend Round Up

It was a busy weekend for all of us here at TSMC. Firstly huge congratulations to Glen Durrant on winning the BDO European Open in Blackpool. So far 2016 has been an incredible year for Glen, keep up that great work mate. While Glen was winning in Blackpool, the rest of the team were in Dusseldorf for the PDC European Darts Open.

Dimitri played really well in the opening round on Friday evening, averaging 93 when he beat Jeffrey de Graaf 6-2. Dimitri’s victory would set up a second round game with Kim, I never like it when the team play each other but that’s darts. The second round saw Mensur beat John Michael 6-1, Jelle beat Richie Edhouse 6-3 and Kyle beat Alan Norris 6-3. The in-house clash between Kim and Dimitri was a close game in the early exchanges, but Kim showed all his experience winning 6-3, but well played both of you.

On a busy final day, Kim, Jelle and Mensur all made it through to the evening session, all three playing very well in the process. Sadly Kyle was beaten 6-2 by Michael van Gerwen.

In the evening quarter-finals, Kim would stun world champion Gary Anderson, beating him 6-4. Mensur was beaten by Peter Wright, and Jelle fell to van Gerwen. In the semi-final, Kim would also fall to van Gerwen, as he would go on to win the title.

Following the European Open Jelle is still 10th in the OOM, but is closing on Dave Chisnall. Kim is 13th but has closed the gap on Ian White, and Mensur is 16th but has Terry Jenkins in his sights. Kyle has moved up to 30th and is closing in on Andrew Gilding. Dimitri is up to 57th and there is no move for Ronny in 44th and Mike in 89th. Glen extended his lead at the top of the BDO world rankings.
